Using Twitter for a corporate account @maestroFM, I auto-DM followers with a personal introduction, basically just telling them my name and what I Twitter about for the company, www.maestro.fm. Should I remove this completely because it ticks more people off then it does give them a friendly hello?

Re: Beware Of Fake Twitter Addicts!

Yep, those auto DM's are deadly... That is one of the flaws of URL shorteners - you can't guess where it's going. If you use FireFox, try the Power Twitter plugin. It shows you the full link location before you click on it.

Re: Beware Of Fake Twitter Addicts!

Thanks Randy! All of their links were like that. Also got some porno girls following me-- their links turned out to be very hard-core. I blocked them immediately. I also beware those followers w/ almost no updates and oodles of followers. I just un-followed several folks last night...

Re: Beware Of Fake Twitter Addicts!

Thanks for posting this. I don't need 1000 followers or more money and I don't want porn! This is a great list of how to identify them.

Re: Beware Of Fake Twitter Addicts!

I have 2. If you get followers not soon after you tweet something, example "social media", odds are they are autofollowing spambots.

Also they end up here: http://twitspam.org/

Re: Beware Of Fake Twitter Addicts!

They tend not to understand "More Cowbell"

Re: Beware Of Fake Twitter Addicts!

Great list. #10 is my most nit picking one.
Good share. Reblogged a quote.

Another check - they follow/unfollow/follow/unfollow in an attempt to get you to follow them back.
